I went there to do rebonding and was overcharged by the malay recept girl.This is the second time that she did that to me. I shall talk about this incident before I move on to the previous one. My usual hair stylist was on leave till 8 May, and my hair needed a rebonding "urgently" as it is really messy, so I have decided to just go for it as I thought anyone can do rebonding for me, no need to be a director level stylist.So I opted for a senior hairstylist. My initial plan was just to rebond, and not to cut, because I dun trust this senior hairstylist on hair cut. But he persuaded me and told me that I must / die die / definitely do a hair trim before the rebonding, otherwise the rebonding would be ugly! I was convinced and decided to just do a trim and kept reminding him to do a good job. My hair rebonding was S$178 and hair cut was S$48 (both pricing before Esprit member 20% discount). The hairstylist also told me that after discount, it would just be S$38 for the haircut.Everything went on smoothly until payment time. The malay recept girl told me that the amount was S$181. If you calculate carefully, the actual amount should be S$180.80. She did a mark up of S$0.20. I asked her why can't she collect the exact amount from me and need to do a mark up? She said that is their usual practise. They have to collect full amount. Got like that one meh? I never heard of a company doing an auto-markup on the price for you. Oh this reminded me of Long John Silver doing auto-upsize on the meals without telling the customers (that was donkey years ago).ok anyway, you may be thinking I am so stingy, S$0.20 also dun want to give them. But the thing is, I dun think it is the right way to auto markup for your customers without their agreement. Anyway I paid for it. Then I left the shop.. but in my heart, I was ultimately buay siong. After like 10 minutes, I went back to the shop.I asked the lady, if the amount was S$180.40, will you mark down for me to S$180. She said yes.I feedback to her that their way of charging is unreasonable and told her, if that's the case, split up the bill for me... i.e. rebonding would S$142.40 after discount and hair cut would be S$38.40 after discount. Hence you take away the S$0.40 for both amounts and I only need to pay S$142 + S$38 = S$180. I have achieved a saving of S$1 due to their funny payment scheme. Then she told me it would be very troublesome for me. Strange right, why would it be troublesome for me? Or rather, probably she was trying to say that it would be very troublesome for her.In the end, she still do it for me, by simply writing on the same bill for the new discounted price, that's all she needs to do! Then after that she passed me the new bill with an unwillingly smile on her face. I think after I left, she must have cursed me like crazy.I called Jean (my friend who recommended this hair salon to me) after that and complained to her about the incident. She told me she has never experienced a mark up of pricing before, everytime it was mark down of pricing only. Maybe the malay girl doesn't like me :( Another incident happened during this Chinese New Year. There was actually a S$10 surcharge for the bill as it was during the busy period. The hair stylist told me about it when he was doing my hair and I agreed to it.When I was about to make payment, a lady who offers threading services in Esprit salon asked if I want to shape my eyebrow. She even told me I can enjoy a 20% discount if I am a member of Esprit.I thought since it was CNY, might as well try it. Then when I was making payment, issues arise again. This malay girl wanted to charge me S$20 extra for both the hair cut and threading services. I told her I was only informed of the S$10 from hair cut, but this threading, she never mentioned to me when she was promoting the service to me. Furthermore, the reason why she charged me S$20 was because for each bill, there's a surcharge of S$10 and since I have requested for two services, one hair cut and one threading, so there are two bills. Ridiculous right? Why can't they put the hair cut and threading into one bill?? Trying to earn more money during CNY right.I told her if she has told me about this extra $10, I wouldn't even want to do the threading. Then she pointed to a small information board at the payment counter, which no one will notice, and said that it was written on the board. Goodness, and the stupid me, went to make payment unwillingly. Same thing, walk away with super buay siong feeling and went back to the salon 10 minutes later. When I went back, her manager was at the counter too, so I told him about the matter, and he said the bills can be combined and I should only be charged once, i.e. S$10. The malay girl still wants to argue and said it should be separate bills. grrrrr... anyhow, the S$10 was refunded to me...I think I have a serious problem. For both incident, I should not make the payment when I dun feel that it is right. I should reason it out with them and dun even make the payment until the matter was resolved. But each time, I was weakened and will give in, make payment and then go back to them again. Anyhow I just want to share this experience with you and let you know, should you be visiting this salon, check your bill carefully before you make payment. Or ask them the exact amount that you should be paying before engaging their services.07-05-2008 12:52:5101-01-1970 07:30:0007-05-2008 12:52:51时光&#212...escago已经很久没有写日记了很久没有跟好友见面，聊天很久没有运动很久没有安定生活的感觉很久没有旅行很久没有休息很久没有喝下午茶很久没有野餐很久没有爬山很久没有好好的吃三顿很久没有看到无烟区很久没有驾车的感觉离开新加坡到中国来闯已经有一年的时间。一年的时间转眼就过了，现在真正的感受到岁月不留人。多数的朋友都已经是爸爸妈妈级了。他们都过着自己的生活，也没什么多余的时间跟朋友碰头。最多就是一年一次的聚会。时间久了，就连一年一次的见面也省了。多数人给的原因就是因为很忙，没时间。其实，我觉得如果有心要见面，还是会见上的。可能是我自己还没有孩子，所以无法真正的了解有了子女是怎么一回事。到底有多忙。。最近我甚至碰过给了朋友两次电话，都没有回复。当时是想安排跟朋友在过年聚会的事。但是却都没有回应。过后，在我离开新加坡以前， 还给了她一个短信跟她道别。发了短信后，终于得到了回复。她说当时没有回电的理由是以为我打过去应该是没什么重要的事情，所以就没有给我电话 ：（当我看了那则短信时，真的很伤心。我觉得自己已经进了力维持一段友谊。或许她有自己的苦衷， 所以我并没有怪她。毕竟我们已经不是年轻时无忧无虑的小姑娘了。。现在的她已经把所有的时间奉献给孩子。好了，发完牢骚。。接下来，我要打起精神，为2008 年冲刺！我要珍惜每一天不要浪费时间在无谓的事情上孝顺父母亲，多花些时间跟他们在一起至于朋友，就随缘吧，不要强求。我相信有缘千里来相会这句话 ：）23-03-2008 01:36:5423-03-2008 01:41:2423-03-2008 01:36:54Back to the pastescagoYesterday night, I dreamt that I am back in the past, during the poly days. I was late at lecture and when I went into the lecture theatre, I saw my old gang, Hazel, Kathleen and Catherine. The guys are seated quite far, so can't see them clearly.I told the girls that I came back from future and I am already 32. They looked at me and didn't suspect anything, just treated me like normal. Does it mean that I still look young now, haha, comforting myself.I am glad to see Kathleen again in my dream. She has passed away few years back due to cancer. She is always in my memory. I guess I thought of her because I saw some of the cards that she has sent me while running through my old stuff recently in SG. Furthermore I happened to bump into her little cousin at Mango also. We used to "play" at her house with her two little cousins. They are not little anymore, already working adults. I thought it should be fine to get to know more friends, so we agreed to pop by. Furthermore, the karaoke that he has mentioned was somewhat like K-Box kind, i.e. the kind that don't have any special / extra.But the client's friend somehow sabo him and told him that they are at a night club while we were getting onto a cab. My client asked if we still wanna go since there's a change in plan. As we have already agreed in the first place, so we decided to just go ahead.This is my very first experience at such a posh night club. Its a newly opened outlet in Beijing. When we reached the night club, there were rows of waitresses standing in a neat fashion, greeting us while we walked pass them. The night club is huge, and it took us like 5 mintues walk before we reach the room.On the way to the room, we saw pretty / sexy girls walking around with their mamasan. When we reached the room, we were introduced to some of the client's friends. There were two 小姐 accompanying some of them already. I felt a bit out of place la.. but nevermind, my first experience. Then a mamasan came into the room with few girls, who walked into the room and lined up nicely in front of the TV screen, standing awkwardly and smiling at the man. It was for the male customers to choose. Almost every other 10 - 15 minutes, there will be one round of ladies coming in and literally display themselves. They have got sexy outfit, some young, some old. The mamasan also walk around to give namecards to the guys. Even mamasan also need to play dice games and drink with the male customers.All these just happened to me before my eyes, it's so near and real. I am just like watching a Hong Kong drama series. What an experience!Overall, the room is filled with noise, smoke, laughter, whatever... Half way through, there were many other friend's friend's friends who came, we just say hello to them. We stayed for about an hour plus, then we say bye bye. While saying goodbye to the people there, one of the guys said I look familiar to him and he has met me before, but in terms of business and not at such place. Then I asked him his name and where he worked, we realised that we did meet up before for business about 2 years back. I have stayed for almost two months in Beijing this time round, the longest period that I have left home. I miss my family as I have not seen them for so long.I miss Singapore's food too. Need to do some planning of what to eat when I am back..hmmm ... going to do ordering from my mum again, haha.I will be back in Beijing again during mid Dec, so I am gonna celebrate X'mas in China, my first time, hope it will be fun. I heard it is going to snow, so probably I will get to experience a white X'mas :)I shall take pix if it happen.29-11-2007 22:44:2701-01-1970 07:30:0029-11-2007 22:44:27立冬escago今天立冬了。是从一个服务员口中才知道的， 因为她介绍饺子给我们吃。她说立冬的时候就是吃饺子的。这是我在网上找到的解释：说到"冬"，自然就会联想到冷。"立，建始也"，表示冬季自此开始。"立冬之日，水始冰，地始冻"。现在，人们常以凛冽北风，寒冷的霜雪，作为冬天的象征。我国南方大部分地区亦霜雪稀少，所以，在气候学上，不固定以"立冬"这天作为各地冬季的开始，而是以气温来划分季节，即候（５天）平均气温低于10℃为冬季，这样就比较节合当时的物候景观。（<a href="http://www.nongli.com/item2/24jq19.htm" target="_blank">http://www.nongli.com/item2/24jq19.htm</a>） 或许已经习惯这里的天气，越来越可以"耐"冷了。希望这种感觉是长久的，哈哈。我的手背现在是超级的干燥，偏偏我又不喜欢擦润肤膏，所以已经到了破皮流血的程度才肯擦一点。现在皮肤还在慢慢的修复呢。今天是我们公司展会的第一天。原本一切都蛮顺利的，但是就为了一些海报，还有宣传标签，弄得我们团团转。由于印刷厂家迟迟未把推广材料送到会场，我们就一直等到4点10分 时才拿到货。糟糕的是，展会在四点正就结束了。由于我们在展会外接货， 所以那个保安不让我们进去， 说是已经清场了， 除非我们拿着红色的招牌，不然的话就不能进去。红色的牌子是给官员的。我们有两个人， 我拿着一包标签，另外一个人拿着6 张超大的海报，根本就很难混进去。我趁着有很多人离场的时候， 就溜了进去。过后，我就把海报从门上接过去。这是第一关，我们有一个人通过。至少已经进去国展的停车场。可是还得走一段路才到会场。在国展那里有另外一个同事帮我拿海报。我们就赶过去会场。怎么知道会场已经不让人进去了。我看到们还没上锁， 就决定试一下。把门打开后，就有一个老女人过来阻止我们进场，说是已经不能进厂了，可是我们的摊位就只是在非常靠近的地方，但是，她还是坚持不让我们进去。本来还有机会尝试越过她，跑到我们的摊位，可是我的同事不敢：（ 我很想自己动手，可是真的是不够力气，因为那六张海报是超级大张，需要用小货车运送的那种。最后那个老女人还叫了多两个老女人来帮忙挡驾。一直推着我们出场，还推着我们的海报。折腾了一下，最后还是输了。 并没有成功的把东西放到我们的摊位。我们把东西留在展会负责人那里，但是并不能上锁， 所以我很担心东西会不见。希望一切都顺利。我真的觉得他们做事非常的不变通，不灵活。我们并不是来参观展会的，我们是参展的公司， 而且我们也付了展费。现在只是要放下推广资料就走，却不能。简直是忍无可忍，让人非常的气愤。我去过那么多的展会，从来没有遇过这么野蛮的事件。可能这就是在不同国家所会遇到的不同经验吧。希望明天会更好！08-11-2007 22:43:0308-11-2007 22:46:3908-11-2007 22:43:032 Seasons in BeijingescagoI had a chat with my Chinese colleague yesterday evening, was asking him, how do they know winter has started, how do they know spring has started, etc, is there a specific day that the government will announce? He said there is, but he don't keep track of it, cos in his opinion, there are only 2 seasons in Beijing - Summer and Winter.This is because Beijing is either extremely hot or extremely cold. Actually come to think of it, I kind of agree with him. It is either you wear short sleeve t-shirt or thick jacket, haha.. plus the weather here is unpredictable.Here are two pix to share. One of them taken on 26 Oct and another one today (28 Oct). It was super hazy / foggy on 26 Oct, but surprisingly, it is not that cold. <img hspace="0" src="blog_images/408/261007.JPG" align="baseline" border="0" />Today, it was sunny and you can see clear blue sky. The facial session in China is pretty similar to what I had in Singapore, except they do some extra stuff in their package.I took up a RMB 220 (est. SGD 44) facial package, which includes the following:1. Bathing facilities - Extra 2. Facial wash (cleansing, scrubbing, massaging, mask) 3. Neck massage 4. Head massage 5. Back massage - Extra 6. Hand massage - Extra 7. One cup of tea, served at the end of the session 8. One pear, served at the end of the session - Extra The total session lasted for 1 hour 45 mins.The experience was really good. Those extra stuff that I have stated was based on my own comparison to a facial parlour that I used to sign up when I was in Singapore.If you sign up for their package, its even cheaper per session. But minimum payment is RMB 5,000, which is quite steep. So I gave that a miss, will just go for ad hoc basis.I am going for rebonding tomorrow, haha. I can feel the laser going through my eye balls, and the flipping of the cornea process (which my husband has described to me after he did lasik).I was tearing during the lasik process and I even tried to move my eye balls around cos I felt so uncomfortable and my eyes were red... in my dream, I also remember that it is not advisable to move your eye balls during the lasik process. .. goodness, it was so real!The funniest part of this dream was, this lasik operation was not meant for me, cos I have perfect eye sight. In my dream, I am supposed to do it on behalf of someone, so that after I am done, I can pass the eye balls over (something like that, gross)I am glad I didn't have to go through the passing of eye balls to another person in the dream. It just stopped when the lasik operation was over, and man it was a success case... phew!When I woke up, I felt pain in my eyes and I was tearing uncontrollably. I had the "gui ya shen" feeling that something was pressing on the right side of my body. Then while I was strugging to let that "gui ya shen" feeling go away, I saw a man coming in from the door and he was holding a rifle, walking towards me. He gave me an evilish smile. At that moment, I thought I was going to die. I was trying to reach for the phone to call for help, then I woke up. Thank goodness, it looked so real and I totally freak out.Luckily it was a dream. The first movie to show was I Not Stupid Too (小孩不笨2). The director Jack Neo and male lead (李创锐) was there at the opening. I think Sun Ho (special guest) was there too, but I only saw her back view.This is the first time I attended a "Film Fest", ha I know there's always one in Singapore every year, but I have never attended them before. (I always associate film fest with cultured cultured show, so I never bother to go check out what's on) - Me Not So Cultured :PThe seating arrangement went a bit haywire though. There were free ticket holders and paid ticket holders during the show. And among the free ticket holders, there were VIPs and non VIPs... fyi I am holding the free ticket (non VIPs), haha.So that makes seat-finding very tough as there were ushers blocking some of the seats, telling us to go somewhere else. But it was not a very big theatre, so seats were limited as well. We nearly gave up. Then I saw the last two rows with some empty seats and there were no ushers, so we decided to just go and sit, and pray that no one will chase us away.I felt that they could have better organize this by separating free and paid ticket holders into different theatres or different time slot. Perhaps the organizer has their own difficulties as well. In the end, extra folding chairs were brought into the theatre for those without seats and there were folding chairs just right in front of our seats, blocking our views. So we watched the whole movie with two big black heads in the show as well. But what's there to complain when the ticket is free right? kee kee :P Other than the initial seating arrangement mini commotion, the movie is quite nice and touching. I teared at some parts of the show. We were interviewed by a reporter when we left the theatre. Ha my first experience to be interviewed after watching a movie.We went to an ulu place for supper after the movie. That was an underground Hong Kong cafe which we don't expect to see anyone we know there. BUT we met a "famous" person there, and he went with a female companion.This person is a CEO of a famous company. His female companion is quite pretty and she is not his wife. ho ho, juicy news ya.I know I know they may be just having supper together, so what and that doesn't mean anything.
